Warm enough to swim in mid-May?

This may be a dumb question, but will May be beach swimming weather already? And it seems we can stay in the historic district but do day trips to the beach with no problem -- is that right?

Many thanks!

Warm enough to swim in mid-May?

Et is indeed VERY easy to go from the historic district to the beach. Sometimes we%26#39;ve gone back and forth several times in one day based on our schedules, the weather, etc. There are no toll roads here and our ';traffic jams'; mean you%26#39;re stuck at a traffic light.

Mid-May it will just start warming up (everyone will have a different tolerance for cold water though!) I love it when it%26#39;s about 83, and it will only be in the mid- 70%26#39;s (probably like summer at the Jersey shore if you%26#39;ve ever been) There will be lots of people in the water and the beaches should be great. Do you know which beach(es) you plan to visit? Each has a different ';flavor';. Let us know what you%26#39;re looking for and we%26#39;ll match you up with a good beach if you want. ENJOY!

Culture Hound - I would like to get your beach recommendations. We are going to Charleston area in mid-May with a 2 year old. We would like to stay within walking distance of the beach too (easier for naps and all the gear), but aren%26#39;t necessarily into big resort or crowded scenes. What are your recommendations? Appreciate the help

There are many different types of places - let us know what type of accommodations you%26#39;re looking for (ie: 1-br with kitchen; 2-br; hotel room; bed and breakfast; villa; condo; home rental, and whether you want a resort with its own amenities and how far you%26#39;re willing to drive (or how often you plan to go to the city). Also - I%26#39;ve forgotten if you will be here for a week because that will affect some answers we give you.

One place I can suggest you start looking (and we%26#39;ll wait for your answers) is www.dunesproperties.com or www.islandrealty.com or www.wilddunes.com or www.vrbo.com

OK - that%26#39;s a start! :)

We have rented condos on Folly Beach since our youngest grandkids were babies; for the past few years we have rented through Dunes Properties...Pavilion Watch condos. These condos have three bedrooms, three bathrooms, equipped kitchens. I really like them because they are just steps from public beach access so carrying the baby equipment will not be a problem. The beach is perfect families with kids of any age.
