Hilton Head

I will be staying at Port o%26#39; Call in Shipyard at the end of April.

1. Can anyone recommend golf courses, other than the Harbour Course, in the HH area? I am a fair golfer and would like to pay more than $125.

2. Can anyone recommend things to do on HHI other than golf.

Hilton Head

Dear peterperil:

Boy, oh, boy. A ';fair'; golfer who wants to ';pay more than $125';? The only golf course way more than $125.00 is the ';May River Golf Club'; in Bluffton starting at $240 a crack. It opened in 2005, desgined by Jack Nicklaus, 7,171 yards. It has 300 year old Oaks, brackish tidal waterways and freshwater lagoons. Caddies are mandatory, as is walking before 9 a.m. South Carolina%26#39;s Golf Course Ratings Panel named it the states best new course. It is associated with Palmetto Bluff Resort.

As for the mainstream ';fair'; duffers, there are many more affordable choices.

D in Muskoka. PS.- I am not a golfer, my husband is. I haven%26#39;t quite gotten the point of chasing a tiny white ball over acres of grass and paying out good (sometimes ridiculous money) to do it. LOL.

lol...I bet the original poster comes back and says they meant less than $125, we%26#39;ll see...

You got it. I meant no more than $125. Thanks

1. OK, so I love the Robert Trent Jones course on the island in Palmetto Dunes. You don%26#39;t have to stay in PD to play there. It has an ocean hole and an absolutely gorgeous back nine studded with lagoon (think lake-like) vistas. It%26#39;s also a fair test and I believe can be played for less than that.

2. Cycling (bikes) on the beach and miles and miles of cycling paths on the island. Bring your own or rent many places.

Kayaking in Broad Creek.

Watersports of all kinds.

Horseback riding (fairly tame, families can do it) at Lawton Stables in Sea Pines.
