Trip to Fort Jackson for daughters graduation for boot camp

I was wondering if anyone had any helpful hints about the area of Columbia and Fort Jackson, I need to make hotel reservation for 6 people for 2 nights, I want a nice clean place but would like it not to cost to much if possible. I also wanted to know if anyone has heard of the Blue Marlin rest. Would like to that everyone out to dinner after graduation for a nice dinner. Thanks for the help.

Columbia is the capital of South Carolina, so you can find just about all of the national chains here. I find that, in general, if you stick with one of the national chains (I prefer Hampton Inns), you are OK.

The Blue Marlin is in downtown Columbia on Gervais Street. It is in the section of town called the Vista; lots of restaurants, etc, in that area. It is a very nice restaurant; you should be able to have a very nice dinner there. I would contact them %26amp; make reservations first if you are going to have a large party (more than 4).

If you aren%26#39;t driving down, you need to arrange to car rental. The mass transit system isn%26#39;t that great. Having a car will be a must.

Blue Marlin is a good restaurant but check out Motor Supply Co. and Mr. Friendly%26#39;s. Both of these restaurants are in the same price range as Blue Marlin.
