Road trip from Mickey to Ohio...SC help needed?

We%26#39;re planning a road trip from Orlando to Ohio in June. Please help with any suggestions for interesting lodging along our way!

Orlando to Cape Canaveral - overnight

Cape Canaveral to Jacksonville - overnight

Jacksonville to South Carolina - midstate overnight destination sought with character (plantation, etc).

South carolina to Smokey mountains - overnight

Smokey Mtns to HOME

Any help with creative lodging options would be great. Historical places are always an interest. We are 4 children and 1 adult. Children are 14, 13, 9, 4. Thank you!!

Don%26#39;t miss St. Augustine, FL, which is America%26#39;s oldest city! No offense to Jacksonville, but St Augustine is MUCH more interesting.

Also, Savannah, GA, is along your route - just off I-95 - between Jacksonville and your cut-off at I-26.
