quietest place to stay in Charleston?

Don%26#39;t care if it%26#39;s a hotel or inn (would slightly prefer the latter), but for sure want the accommodations to be as quiet as possible. Would like good, spacious bathroom and handsome, king-bed room with comfortable bed and good linens. Not crazy about Victorian furnishings. Prefer lightness and airiness rather than clutter. Antiques not necessary. Comfort more important. Quiet most important. Hope not to have to spend more than about $300 per night (mid-April). Possible?

Thanks for suggestions!

You might wanna try one of the places at this website. Ive been looking into booking with them next time I come down because they are privately owned. Hope this may help you.

Do you want to be in the heart of historic Charleston? If so, the more residential the area, the more likely the streets will be quiet.

Stay away from hotels on East Bay, where the streets and the restaurants are busy late in the evening and deliveries begin in the early morning.

Also, aside from street noise, what do you mean by quiet? Do you prefer a place where there will be fewer weddings or other events occurring on the property?

If you do not care about staying downtown, there are places within easy driving distance that have more space around them, water views, garden views, etc. These more remote locations might be more ';quiet';.

We really enjoy staying at the Residence Inn downtown/riverview in charleston. It is about 10 minuits from the historic district and quiet with wonderful plush bedding and large suits. Our favorite is a 2bed/2bath suite with living area and kitchen. The only draw back is the view unless you are up on a high floor. We always stay 1st or 2nd floor.
