Things to do at night.

The more research I do it seems most of the tourist stuff happens during the day which is dissapointing. We were wanting to tour a plantation or take one of the cruises.

However, my wife is tied up with bussiness stuff till 5pm every night and we have no extra days there.

Any suggestions for stuff we might do at night outside of dinner etc.

Tours (boat or carriage), destinations?

How late are the shops on King St open and is it safe at night?

Sorry- I read your first request as an attempt to find things for YOU to do when your wife was busy at her conference.

So in the evening...there are many places to go and listen to live music...Mistral%26#39;s is one (sit at the bar and enjoy) but there are so many. There are also tours that operate only at night - but most of them have a ';Ghost'; theme - your hotel concierge can help or you can look at a tour operator such as www.bulldogtours.com There is a ';Haunted Jail Tour'; as well, and many people like it.

The shopping area (King Street) has many stores of all different types. The large stores are open later (Saks, Williams Sonoma, etc) but the boutique stores might close earlier.

There are dinner cruises (perhaps these were mentioned on the other post) See info at: http://www.spiritlinecruises.com/welcome.asp

I don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s the right season ...(anyone with first=hand knowledge, please write in) but in high season the carriage tours go into the evening. While you%26#39;re spending the day in the city you could make arrangements for your wife.

Having said that, part of the charm of visiting Charleston is just ';taking in'; the sights and sounds and views. Go for a romantic walk south of Broad street in the residential part of town and just RELAX!!!!! Enjoy!

Thanks for the information. I see that our hotel is on a waterfront park area so that should be nice.

Bulldog does have some night tours is one better than the the others?

We really wanted to do the dinner cruise but they are not running while we are there.

Thanks for the info!

It is safe to stroll around at night in the historic district. Most of the downtown shops, museums and galleries close at 6 P.M. or earlier.

You might try a ghost tour, take one of the pedicab rides through downtown, there are a couple of rooftop bars to watch the sunset, take a dinner cruise or just stroll around Waterfront park and the Battery. Take a small flashlight if you are walking around after dark. The sidewalks are very old and are not very even.

Was down there two weeks ago and notice how must stores were closed by 7. We did catch the Theater 99 Improve and it was well worth the $5 a person it cost. I beleive they have shows on Weds, Fri and Saturday. They are located on meeting street above a bicylce shop. Check it out.

So far we are having fun. We went to Patriots Point last night but they were not allowing anymore in. We did get some good pictures.

We also went with bulldog and did a ghost tour of the old Jail House in the downtown area.

It was a really good tour and we enjoyed it.

We ate at the Noisy Oyster and Bubba Gump Shrimp so far and they have both been good.

Apparently tonight we are getting some severe weather so we might be bound to the hotel.

Just found out we%26#39;re getting a bunch of snow at home so we%26#39;ll take a few storms:)
