Please compare Wentworth Mansion and Two Meeting Street Inn

We%26#39;ve stayed previously at Wentworth, but would like to try somewhere different, closer to the water, etc. Does anyone know if TMS would be a quiet place to stay? Or why it%26#39;s not rated very well in the accommodations section of TA? Any other suggestions for inns of high quality? Places that%26#39;d be quiet and very comfortable, but not ';stuffy';?

Thank you.

Oh, stay at 2 Meeting! What a great location - I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get the complete ';Charleston experience'; by staying there. PS - I read the TA reports - they looked (by and large) extremely positive. Don%26#39;t worry about 1 or 2 bad rec%26#39;s. ENJOY!

Two Meeting Street is definitely in a very quiet location, and the inn is one of the most grand of Charleston%26#39;s historic B%26amp;B%26#39;s. The inn is a historic home, furnished with antiques, and possibly without the most contemporary bathrooms, etc. The location, steps from The Battery, is lovely.

As you know, the TA hotel ratings are based largely upon how many of the TA members who stayed there chose to write reviews. Not all people who stay in a property are TA participants; not all TA participants take the time to review. Small, very high-end, hotels get fewer reviews because fewer TA members sty there. Also, it stands to reason that someone who had an extraordinary experience - positive or negative - would be more inclined to write; therefore, the reviews often seemed unbalanced.

I assume that you have read all of the reviews of Two Meeting Street. Most people who wrote were very happy with Two Meeting Street; however, the few complaints may highlight features that would not appeal to you.

Thanks for replies.

Have learned that TMS has only queen beds. Alas, that means it%26#39;s out for us (restless sleepers). Will try either Governor%26#39;s House or French Quarter. Have stayed at FQ once before and found it quite nice-- quiet, large rooms and bathrooms. More like hotel than inn, but that%26#39;s ok. Will consider GH though-- have never stayed there.

Thanks!

Sounds good! Wherever you stay, please post a review when you return. :)

My wife and I have stayed at Charleston Place and Planters Inn, in addition to several mid-market properties in Charleston. If you liked Wentworth Mansion, you%26#39;ll probably like Planters Inn as well.

On a previous visit to Charleston, the manager at Wentworth Mansion was nice enough to take us on a tour of the property, including the amazing first floor suite. We really liked Wentworth Mansion, but we thought its location is a little out of the way (we%26#39;ll probably stay there sometime in the future anyway).

I%26#39;ve heard that Two Meeting Street Inn is also wonderful. Although we%26#39;ve walked by the inn, we%26#39;ve never gone inside. We%26#39;ll definitely take a tour of the property the next time we%26#39;re in Charleston.

We really enjoyed our recent stay at Planters Inn (see my TA review). The inn is a magnificent, antebellum property with understated elegance very similar to Wentworth Mansion.

In addition to Two Meeting Street Inn, you should consider staying at Planters Inn also.
