charleston hotels

Hello,

We will be in SC this month and would like to stay around Charleston near Kiawah Island, so we can visit the island. We are looking for a nice, clean hotel for around $150 a night and under. I read that the Mt. Pleasant area is very close to Charleston and has several nice reasonable hotels. How far is that area from Kiawah? I would really appreciate any help and recommendations with this. Thanks so much.

Mt. Pleasant would be a 45-50 minute drive from Kiawah. The drive could be longer depending upon where you are in Mt. Pleasant, and whether you are driving at a busy commuting time.

If you want a motel/hotel not in Charleston proper, but a close drive, consider something in West Ashley. In West Ashley, you would be only about 30 minutes from Kiawah, and you would avoid the heavy traffic through Charleston.

Another alternative would be to rent a condo or cottage on Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, or at the Bohicket Marina (between Kiawah and Seabrook). Other than the two weeks around Easter, rates at the beaches are relatively low at this time of year. You could very likely find a one bedroom place, with sleeping arrangements for up to four people, for $150.
