One of the best times...but if you like visiting homes and gardens, the Fall Tour of Homes and Gardens goes from Sept 25 to Oct 26. The candlelight tours are wonderful - since they start in the evening you have your whole day to visit other Charleston sites and still have a nice dinner and then go for an evening stroll through about 8 or so Charleston gardens and courtyards. Wonderful time. Still warm but not oppressive which makes walking around much more enjoyable.

Fall is a great time to visit. Typically it doesn%26#39;t get chilly until the last week of October - if history holds true - and it generally seems to every year. A light sweater in the evening would be perfect.
