The Caribbean Resort?

I have been looking through old posts %26amp; reading reviews re: The Caribbean Resort %26amp; Villas. I would love pointers, tips, or recent reviews of this property. I am looking at an OF 1 bedroom Suite for my family of 5 (kids 11, 8 and 4). Please correct me if I am wrong....

From the info. I have gathered the entire property has been recently remodeled/updated. New water park type areas were added in 2007. Parking is across the street (is it free or do you pay?). There are several buildings some of which are NOT OF, but across the road. No restaurant on site (well, a snack bar in season), but a sea food place next door.

Anything I am missing? The rates look decent %26amp; for the most part we are looking for clean, not fancy. Do you think this will fit the bill? We received a brochure from them %26amp; they are having a special, stay 5 nights get the 6th %26amp; 7th free. Any recommendations on finding the best possible rate or is this special as good as it gets?

I appreciate any info. you can pass along.

TIA,

Bren

The Caribbean Resort?

We booked here for 3 br condo in August, have never been there but looking forward to it this summer. It looks like a great property.

As to the rates, I%26#39;ve been watching them for 2-3 months, and the 2 free nights deal is best deal I%26#39;ve seen. I rebooked with that deal this morning.

The Caribbean Resort?

You%26#39;ve got it all right :) There is no additional charge for parking. The seafood restaurant next door is very popular. There are also a number of restaurants within walking distance, especially for good, inexpensive breakfast.

This particular area is one of my favorites because it is very centrally located. We%26#39;ve stayed there several times, but not since the major remodeling.

As far as the best rates, the brochures usually offer good specials, but I think it%26#39;s always worth your time to call the hotel directly to make sure you are getting the best price.

Thanks for confirming the info. I have read is correct. DH is usually the ';hotel finder'; %26amp; I plan all the fun stuff. I think we will be booking here soon....We plan on going in June %26amp; it is fast approaching. Looking at the website my DH %26amp; all three kids were ready to head south today! lol.

Any other comments?

P.S. I just had to ask about parking fees. We stayed in Chicago for a week July 2007 and parking at the hotel was $30 a night!!! OUCH! Free parking sounds just right;o)

I hear ya about the parking charges!

We%26#39;ve been finding that hotels in mid-western cities like Columbus %26amp; Pittsburgh are now charging for parking! Yikes...that can add up quickly.

When are you going? The best discount usually comes out in March or April. It is called the summer super saver rate. It%26#39;s a discount rate if you stay 7 nights. That is what I have used in the past and it was 10% more than any other discount I%26#39;ve seen for that resort.

We usually stay across the street in the Chelesa House condo%26#39;s. They are really nice. We are getting a 3rd floor room this time as we had elephants walking above us non stop from 10pm til 4am last yr. No kidding. It was unbelievable.

I love the pool bar and grill. Might be a little pricey but it%26#39;s so convenient, and the burgers are awesome.

With all the dining choices in MB, I never use any of the hotel restaurants.

Your kids will love all the water activities. Some are in full sun and some are covered. There are also daily activities for kids like tie dye shirts, etc.

This resort would be a good choice.

After looking at the %26#39;stay 5 nights get the 6th %26amp; 7th free%26#39;...that%26#39;s a great rate...grab it if you can. If something else better comes along, they%26#39;ll switch it over for you.

Denman007,

Thanks for your input %26amp; info. on the resort. We just made reservations Friday;o) We will be staying in an Oceanfront Suite. Now to wait until June before we can go! Can%26#39;t wait!

We have stayed there the past three summers and we stayed again just this past December. Newly updated with nice furniture. Sea Captains House next door is nice--but kind of pricey and I think-- better for couples. I have a 16 year old and an 8 year old so we get them pizza and walk next door to the Sea Captains House for dinner one night out of our stay. You may not want to do that with your young ones. However, it is very clean, close to everything, fantastic view, parking is free. Go get groceries your first day and eat breakfast for the most part, in the room. If you do go out to breakfast, try the Sea Captains House next door (buffet that is around $7) or the IHOP, or I have heard that Dino%26#39;s Pancake House is good. I get those little individual Jif peanut butters so we don%26#39;t have to carry back a big jar--and have that for a snack with apples or a sandwich. I also stop at the liqour store and get Margharita Stuff and make a pitcher and take it down to the hot tub--we bring an acrylic pitcher with us.

It is close to things but not crowded. Broadway at the Beach is close which we like and Ripleys Aquarium. We also go to Chesapeake House for dinner and you can feed the aligators outside your leftover hushpuppies. The rate is the best that you will get, I think.
