Kid Free Weekend

Hi - I am planning my first trip away from the kids for my 30th birthday in October - plan on having a few couples join us for a long weekend. Any thoughts on where to stay? Thanks!!

Great time to visit - book early as the city has lots going on (the Preservation Society has its Fall Home and Garden Tours through most of October).

Charleston has many types of lodging from B%26amp;B%26#39;s to small Inns to hotels. One of many places to check for ideas is this site: charlestonsfinest.com/sc/accomhistchas.htm and the links off of this link.

If you describe the type of lodging you would like (hotel, b%26amp;b, etc) and your budget, we can give you more specific advice.

Welcome to Charleston!

Thanks for the reply. Not really picky on what kind of place we can stay at although after an experience in England my husband said he would never stay at a B%26amp;B again. :) Yep it was that bad! Would it be possible to stay somewhere for $200-250 for 3 nights in October? We don%26#39;t need it to be fancy - just a fun place with some good bars in either walking distance or cab distance. Near shopping and daytime activities would be a plus. Is that doable? We just want to hang out and have some fun for a weekend.

If you click on the ';Map'; in the left column, just select the ';hotels';. There are many great hotels in Charleston, and you can find rates in that range. A fantastic location for what you describe (and you won%26#39;t need a cab, so that%26#39;ll save you money) is the Doubletree. I also love the Mills House - it%26#39;s a few blocks from the bars but close to a couple of great restaurants. Good location nonetheless. Charleston Place is probably pricier but very popular and well-situated.

There are also a number of other hotels and inns worth looking at if you don%26#39;t find what you need at the other 3 places I%26#39;ve mentioned.

Oh - your husband is not the only one who prefers not to stay at a B%26amp;B - we checked into one once and had to leave - the owners let their pets jump on the guest beds and we both have pet allergies.
