July or August ? ?

My family is planning a trip to Myrtle Beach, and our open dates are anywhere from July 14 through August 15. We will be staying for 4 days. Is there any specific time during our timeframe that is best?

We have a 5 yr old %26amp; a 14 yr old and plan on keeping it low key, staying at the beach alot and maybe doing some inexpensive things (any ideas on inexpensive things to do would also be appreciated!)

Thanks for any input :)

July or August ? ?

Most resorts/condos are 7 night stays. Anyway, July is the busiest month, most traffic/people. August is the hottest month and you run a slight risk of tropical weather being a factor.

July or August ? ?

Probably be a little less crowded after the first week of August, as a lot shcools go back that early.

Most rental rates change after Aug. 15th. I would look for a place to stay that has an onsite lazy river/water park (no cost). Broadway at the Beach is good for an afternoon, some mini golf places have all day rates. For less crowds, pay the parking fee and use the State Park beach

August. The difference in time frame isn%26#39;t much but August typically will have the smaller crowds.

Inexpensive things to do would depend on what you call inexpensive. I think paying $60.00 for a plate of a half chicken and some steamed veggies and a show with stinky horses is too much money. But some people are just thrilled about that and make that a priority.

If you pick a hotel that has a nice waterpark and pool activities, they probably won%26#39;t want to do anything else but they will probably only want to do that the first 2 days then you have to entertain.

Otherwise, we liked just walking around Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing. Also check out one of the many miniature golf places. There are tons of them and you just pick the one that looks most interesting.

Ripley%26#39;s Aquarium isn%26#39;t that expensive. It%26#39;s about $17.99 for adults 12 and over and the 5 year old will be $9.00. Alligator Adventure prices are a little cheaper.

I agree, prices in August come down %26amp; traffic, etc. thins out.

The only time I have vacationed in MB has.. been

August.. and I believe I have been there..

almost every week in August..

Less crowds

Thanks to all of you, you%26#39;ve been very helpful!
