Hotwire + Myrtle Beach vs. Hilton Head

We went to Hilton Head a couple of summers ago and LOVED it. It was our first vacation just hanging by the pool and beach. And Hilton Head is very laid back - just our style.

We started looking at the hotwire rates for MB and notice a 3.5 star oceanfront resort in South MB for a really good rate.

I have a few questions. 1) Anyone book a 3.5 star resort in south MB through hotwire? If so, which resort was it? 2) How does MB compare to HH? I%26#39;ve heard MB is more crowded, the ocean is not as nice and it%26#39;s more commercial. We will be traveling the end of August.

Thanks for your input.

Hotwire + Myrtle Beach vs. Hilton Head

1) No

2) I%26#39;m sure you could read various responses in the forums, but HH is more laid back, nice restaraunts, but less to do. MB is probably more family oriented if you%26#39;re looking for activities. We have 2 small kids so MB is the better choice because there%26#39;s more to do if the weather isn%26#39;t great.

Also, I believe that HH is more expensive so if price is a factor your money goes farther in MB.

Hotwire + Myrtle Beach vs. Hilton Head

The ocean is nice but it%26#39;s just different then HH. Meaning less/more choppy, Sand is still nice and real but it does have more sea shells than other beaches. It%26#39;s not as flat in some parts of MB as it may be in HH. I wouldn%26#39;t say the beach is ';commercial'; it%26#39;s just that the city part of MB is a full operative city that is in operation all year long. Whereas HH is primarily a summer vacation spot. MB is very very family-oriented however, there are some places along the grand strand that are not as family oriented (with all of the activities) as others.

As you mentioned the South MB section it will depend on how far south. If it%26#39;s still MB and it%26#39;s South Ocean Boulevard, it could be in a more crowded not very laid back area. However if you go further down into Murrell%26#39;s Inlet, Garden City, Surfside Beach, Pawleys Island, Litchfield Beach, it would be more of what you were looking for.

I just did a quick look at what South MB looks like on the Map on Hotwire. It appears that it is the area just south of MB in Garden City, Murrells Inlet, and further south as I mentioned Before. I think you should like that area in comparison to HH. It%26#39;s not as crowded IMO.

I take that back. It%26#39;s including the area From the Pavillion South so I probably wouldn%26#39;t risk that knowing that you could be in the most crowded section of MB. Also, I typed in last week of August on Priceline and it%26#39;s giving rates almost as low as Hotwire but you get to see the hotel. Look into that. And select Southern Coastline and you get the less crowded areas.
