Affordable, family -friendly, unique restaurants w/good food

I know that%26#39;s a tall order, but we really love different (live music, good view, ecclectic dishes, etc), family-friendly %26amp; (unfortunately) affordable restaurants. You guys are sooo helpful %26amp; i%26#39;m sure some of you locals can tell us what places we shouldn%26#39;t miss. Thanks in advance!! We are looking forward to our first vacation in Hilton Head! :)

Affordable, family -friendly, unique restaurants w/good food

Our family enjoyed the Boathouse II restaurant. It has great views and the prettiest sunsets.

They have outdoor patio seating with a live musician most nights. I wouldn%26#39;t say the meals are ecclectic but they were quite good. We found the prices to be reasonable for the island as well.

We enjoyed Santa Fe. They have a beautiful fire pit outside on the 2nd floor deck and live music. The food is creative tex-mex- very beautifully displayed and delicious. My daughter had a soup and we took a picture of it! It looked like a painting! Agree with Boat House too- delicious. Steamers in Coligny has live music and a pretty view along with good seafood although not ecclectic. The view at some of the restaurants in Shelter Cove is beautiful- we have eaten at Scotts and another one that i don%26#39;t remember it%26#39;s name but it was on a 2nd floor and we sat outside - beautiful view- good food too.Enjoy HHI!!

One la I%26#39;ve never seen mentioned here is th Big Bamboo in Coligny. The place is designed to look like a Quonset hut on a WWII air base in the pacific.

they serve a menu that you might have found in such a place. One of my favorite dishes there is the open faced turkey sandwich. It%26#39;s not the usual with a few slices of processed turkey meat, but is made from a real turkey breast. There%26#39;s very filling for under $10.

You get the trimmings too. Mashed potatoes and Cranberry Jelly.

On weekend nights they have a band after nine. Stay around and you%26#39;ll feel you are at the officers club.

Many posters have mentioned the Wild Wing Cafe. That%26#39;s another fun place to spend and evening without spending a fortune.

I second the Boathouse! We REALLY enjoyed eating out on the pation. They have big fans that will keep you cool on the hottest days. The food is very good. We also went to Big Bamboo and had a very enjoyable meal but it was very dark in there. I just wanted to get back outside! Another thing to consider is the early bird special quite a few restaurants have. We did that quite a few times andit really did save $$. You will love HHI.

I don%26#39;t want to pile on for the Boathouse, given all the other great restaurants, but they also do a great Sunday brunch, with champagne.....

So, where%26#39;s the Boathouse exactly? We%26#39;re in Hilton Head Mar 8th for a week. Everyone is making is sound very appealing (the restaurant) I know HHI is already very appealing.

What the price like at Boathouse.

As for the Big Bamboo, is it a suitable place for two families with teenagers, 15 to 18 or not?

I think they have a Beatles night don%26#39;t they?

D in Muskoka - The windchill tonight makes it feel like -26! I can hardly wait for HHI!!!!!

not sure if that will be removed but the address is Squire Pope

Road

or Skull Creek! Mile marker 13

Big Bamboo is definitely suitable for 2 families with teens. We took 5 kids last year ranging from 8-19.

I second Big Bamboo and it is suitable for families. They have happy hour everyday - buy one beer or margarita and you get one free. The food is very good. Check out www.hhidining.com where you will find their menu plus most of the restaurants on the island. They do have music of a evening. When we were last there they had a Beatles evening and on Wednesday%26#39;s Fatwa (reggae) although the band didn%26#39;t start until about 11 and it finished around 3. If you want value for money then go on a Tuesday evening as they have two for the price of one for dinner. It is very popular so get there early evening.

I just wanted to thank you guys for some great suggestions!! We definitely have a list going but would still welcome more ideas if you have them as i don%26#39;t plan to cook at all!! :)
