Where is the Angel Oak tree everyone talks about?

Is the great Angel Oak tree on the way to Kiawah or Seabrook? Or is it near Mt. Pleasant?

Thank-you.

It is on the way to Kiawah/Seabrook. Your hotel should be able to give you printed directions but it is easy to find.

Another site to visit right before or after you visit the Angel Oak is the Charleston Tea Plantation, which is the only place that grows tea in North America. If you%26#39;re coming in May they have a special festival called the First Flush festival on May 17. Link: http://www.bigelowtea.com/act/ I found it interesting and enjoyable. Cheers!

Angel Oak is on the opposite side of Charlestn from Mt. Pleasant, about a 20 minute drive from downtown.

Take Hwy 17 south out of town and then veer tothe left onto Folly Rd. Take Folly about a.5 miles over the bridge and then turn right at the bottom onto Maybank Highway. Take Maybank for about 7-8 miles (you%26#39;ll go over a large bridge which introduces you to Johns Island) until you reach a traffic light (right is Main Rd, left is Bohichet Rd - there is a shopping center to your left). Take the left on Bohicket for about a half mile and you%26#39;ll see the sight pointing for you to take the sharp right turn to the tree. It is indeed a beautiful sight to see.

I know it sounds a little confusing to get there but its not hard to find and well worth the trip. My wife love it. She even bought a seedling from the Oak and has it growing in our yard.

Floski, can you give me directions from Folly? I believe mapquest is way off. Thanks.

gnodule: In Mapquest, put in Holiday Inn, Folly Beach, SC and Angel Oak Park, Johns Island, SC

Should get you right there (I checked, it%26#39;s totally correct).

Enjoy!

^ Well, there ya go!

Thanks Beth, and welcome to the Charleston forum.

Deerhead Oak on Pinckney Street in McClellanville, SC is also another great tree to visit, it was named South Carolina%26#39;s 2007 Heritage Tree.
