Campgrounds

I am trying to decide on either Ocean lakes, Travel park or Apache campground. Any suggestions on which is the best value. The rates are not important as is the best ammenities and the best overall campground.

Campgrounds

I have stayed at Ocean Lakes and Lakewood before. Over all I like lakewood better.

The reason that I like Lakewood better is because the campsites are bigger, more grass, less croawded, more shade, less golf carts.

Lake wood has a nice outdoor pool with a slide on it, a indoor pool. spa, big blow up water slide, aracde, playground, volleyball court, high steppenin country stage (they have sdfferent kinds of shows), gift shop/mini grocery store, resturant, laundrymat, and paddle boat/kyake.canoe.

They just put in new bath houses but they were closed when we was there due to contractor errors.

We have been staying here for about the last 10 or so years and love it.

Campgrounds

MB Travel Park is a great campground. Others allow golfcarts so you have kids flying around everywhere. MB Travel park is clean, spacious and friendly. Apache sites are too close together. It also needs remodeled badly. Apache%26#39;s bath houses are terrible. I only stay at MB Travel Park.

We started out staying at Lakewood, and it is nice, but we changed over to Ocean Lakes and have been going there for over 10 years. We sold our camper last year, and we are still going, renting a house for the week we go. We have two boys, ages 8 and 12, and they love Ocean Lakes. There are so many things to do, and they can ride their bikes around and I don%26#39;t have to worry about them. There are daily activities, and also a day camp for children. Ocean Lakes has a huge blow up water slide, putt putt, game room, science center, and has family activities every night.

I think if you have children that need to have things to do during the day, Ocean Lakes is a great choice. Lakewood is a bit more relaxed in my opinion.

My family and I stayed at Pirateland last July and loved the campgrounds. This place has a wonderful waterpark that is staffed with great people to keep the area clean and to organized daily games, etc for the kids. We went in the peak of the season, and the pool is so big, we never felt crowded. The lazy river at 510 feet is the biggest you will find. The beach here is much better than at Apache or Myrtle Beach Travel Park. I have not been to Ocean Lakes but I have heard it is hard getting any kind of reservations. If you decide to go there, better hurry up and make them. Hope this helps some as I have stayed at Apache and The Travel Park and a few others and for me, Pirateland is the best. You would not believe how easy it is to check in as the building is hugh, with a full staff to make this chore as easy as possible.

And one other thing, on Thurs. they have someone who comes to the campground with a really big BBQ grill and cooks the best BBQ, ever. You can get sandwiches or dinners...........it is a great extra.

Pirateland is the best campground and has better reviews than Ocean Lakes

I have stayed at Ocean Lakes and Pirateland and I have to disagree with the last couple of folks. I do like the pool area at Pirateland, they have a great kiddie pool. But I don%26#39;t like the layout of the campsites as well as Ocean Lakes. The campsites are not pull through at Pirateland and we had to go purchase a cable to plug into the cable TV and a plug adapter for our pop up which we didn%26#39;t need at Ocean Lakes.

We%26#39;ve stayed at Ocean Lakes the past 2 years and really like it. The sites are all nice...very clean and safe park...there%26#39;s a lot to do without actually having to leave the campground (pool, arcade, slide, mini golf, large store, laundromat, food places, skateboard area, special event nights, etc). There is a lot of golf cart traffic but we find that it%26#39;s all part of the fun. At night the oceanfront area becomes ';the strip'; with everyone cruising through and showing off their golf carts.

The reason we originally decided to stay here rather than one of the other campgrounds was that there%26#39;s no curfew...you can come in or out 24 hrs a day unlike at some of the other places where they lock the gate at 11 o%26#39;clock.

Only problem is like someone mentioned in another post...it%26#39;s hard to get a reservation here because people can book their sites 18 months in advance. There are cancellations all the time though so you may have to call back if you can%26#39;t get something the first time.

Lakewood dosen%26#39;t close the gate at 11pm. It is closed from 1:30am to 6am. They have a quite hours from 11pm to 6am(or 7am I can%26#39;t remember) where you have to be at your campsite or at the beach. This is nice so that you can actually get sleep at night.
