Adventure Inn

this mornings ';Island packet'; newspaper announced that the Adventure Inn will be demolished later this month. This complex which was built in 1964, originally was the first time share property on the island. The timeshares had a 40 year lease and ended in 2004.

The property also was the home of ';Fitzgeralds'; restaurant which was wildly popular with tourists and locals alike. It closed in 2005. The family which ran it reopened as ';Hugos'; in the shoppes at Wexford.

The property will be redeveloped later, though there have been zoning issues that have arisen recently.

The area of South Forest beach is undergoing other redevelopment. The Holiday Inn is also due to be demolished and redeveloped as a Condo complex. The Holiday Inn is home to the %26#39;Tiki Huy'; and it%26#39;s fate is yet to be determined.

Adventure Inn

I visited the Adventure Inn while attending the Heritage golf tournament. I was completely floored by the sub-par room conditions in relation to the price. Glad to hear that no one else will waste their money on this dump.

Adventure Inn

Hi, Stan

When will the Holiday inn be demolished? Is there a set date?

Thanks.

Vicky

I really enjoyed Fitzgerald%26#39;s. Have you been to Hugo%26#39;s? I wonder if it is the same?

At this time the Holiday Inn is on hold. Like the Adventure Inn there are zoning problems. Also many of our Gen X residents first grew to love the island by going to the Tiki Hut, so there is a large movement. Yhey even have a website.

Her is the latest story about the Holiday Inn which appeared in the packet in october.

As for Hugos, they do have a number of the same items on their menu, but it is not a copy.

We stayed at the Adventure Inn back in June 1995. It wasn%26#39;t very clean then and we were glad that we were only staying there for 3 nights. However, we did enjoy the food at the Fitzgerald Restaurant. I hope that the Tiki Hut is left alone. In the past we have had some great times there.

Sounds like things are up in the air concerning the Holiday Inn. I%26#39;m hoping it survives as I enjoy staying there --it%26#39;s in a perfect location.
